Titans News · 2019-20 Scholar Athlete Award winners – Talia Harris and Joseph Vaughn


The recipients of this year’s Scholar Athlete Award are Talia Harris and Joseph Vaughn.  This award is presented to the athlete that has the highest GPA while earning a minimum of 4 varsity letters over the course of his/her high school career.

Joe Vaughn earned 4 varsity letters as a member of the track team.  During his high school career, he also participated in basketball and football.  Joe broke the Indoor Track school record in the Shot Put and was set to have a great senior season before track season was cancelled.  He will graduate in the top 5 of his class and will be attending The Ohio State University while majoring in Computer Science.

Talia Harris is one of the best all-around athletes to come through Lorain High.  She lettered in softball (4 years), volleyball (3 years) and bowling (2 years).  She earned 1st Team All-LEL in volleyball and was the LEL Softball Player of the Year following an outstanding 2018 season.  Talia will also graduate toward the top of her class.  She will attend Cleveland State University where she plans to continue her softball career.

The Lorain High Athletic Award winners will be announced throughout week and plaques will be distributed to award winners at a later date.
