Amherst, Ohio – May 24, 2019 – In a closely contested race where the final results weren’t immediately announced, Lorain’s Junior 400M standout, DaQuise Clinton qualified for his first Division I State meet with an outstanding school record breaking time of 49.40 seconds to finish 4th and score 5 points for the Boys team! Great job DaQuise!
On the Girls side of things, Sophomore Mikiya Hermon missed qualifying for the state meet in the 100M Dash for a second time by a mere 1/100th of a second in a fine time of 12.48 seconds with a 5th place finish! Though she was disappointed by the result, she still had an outstanding season and has a very bright future!
In the final contested event of the day, the girl’s 4 x 200M Relay team of Nadarriea Higginbotham, Nae Curry, Brionna Barker and Mikya Hermon finished 6th of 8 teams with a time of 1:46.59 to earn 2 points at the Regional Meet.
Overall, the Girls finished in 23rd place (out of 32) with 8 points, in a meet that was won by the Medina girls who scored 67 points. For the Boys, Lorain finished 32nd out of 42 teams with 5 points in a meet that was won by Strongsville with 69 points.
DaQuise Clinton will be back in action next Friday at Jesse Owen’s Stadium in Columbus as he attempts to improve upon his outstanding 400M season for your Lorain Titans!!!
