Boys Varsity Track, Girls Varsity Track · Lorain Girls finish 4th and Lorain Boys finish 6th at the 2019 LCAAA Invitational

April 12, 2019 – Avon, Oh – On a comfortable Friday afternoon, the Titans Boys and Girls team were in Action at the Lorain County Athletic Administrator’s Association Invitational Meet. The Girls team finished 4th of 15 teams where Avon earned the championship. Meanwhile the Boys were 6th of 14 teams where Avon Lake earned the top honors.

The Girls team was lead once again by Sophomore Mikiya Hermon, who finished 2nd in the 100 Meter Dash (12.90) and was 3rd in the 200 Meter Dash (27.15). Mikiya also ran the anchor leg on the 2nd place 4 x 200 Meter Relay (1:48.18) with Amya Brown, Nadarriea Higginbotham and Brionna Barker and 4th place 4 x 100 Meter Relay (51.69) with Mya Cheers, Higginbotham and Barker.  Senior Sydney Patterson grabbed a 4th place finish in the 300M Hurdles (50.35) and in the field, Sophomore Julissa Williams finished 2nd in the Girls High Jump with a clearance of 5’0″. Finally, the girls 4 x 400M Relay team of Olivia Triplett, Amaya Brown, Sydney Patterson and McKenzie Patterson finished 4th in a time of 4:29.92.

Other Lady Titans who scored at the meet included: McKenzie Patterson who finished tied for 7th in the High Jump (4’6″), Mya Cheers who was 8th in the 100M (13.72), and Brionna Barker who finished 8th in the 200M (28.97). To round-up the scoring, the Girls 4 x800m Relay team of Breiana Chapman, Paris McNeal, Gabrielle McNeal and Olivia Triplett finished 8th with a time of 11:31.30

The Boys were led by Junior DaQuise Clinton who finished 2nd in the 400 Meter run with a time of 51.13, ran on the 2nd place 4 x 200m Relay team (1:32.99) with Adrian Mills, David Taylor and Chris Cintron and the 4th place 4 x 400M Relay team (3:42.20) with Tavion Black, Devon Johnson and Jamal Ross.  Senior Chris Cintron finished 3rd in his specialty, the 100M, with at time of 11.38. In the Field, Titan Sophomore Basketball standout Devante Jackson, who was competing in just his 2nd high jump competition ever, finished tied for 3rd with a height of 5’10”!

Other boys who scored at the meet included: Freshman David Taylor who was 6th in the 100M (11.70) and 7th in the 200M (25.84),  Senior Jamal Ross who was 6th in the 110M Hurdles (17.72) and 5th in the 300M Hurdles (44.93), and Senior Kelvin Torres was 7th in the Shot Put (41-00).

The Boys and Girls return to action next Tuesday with a tri-meet with Cleveland Heights and Shaw and next Saturday at the Lake Health Ranger Relays in Eastlake, Ohio.
