Boys Varsity Track, Girls Varsity Track · The Titans finally get the kind of weather that Track and Field is best suited for and respond with big time performances at the Lake Erie League Championship meet. The Girls team finishes 4 points out of 3rd place with 111 points and the boys finish 5th with 52 points.

May 9 – Bedford, OH – The Lorain Titans High Jumpers return home with bragging rights as they won the Boys and Girls High jump at the Lake Erie League Conference meet in impressive fashion. To start the meet off, Freshman Julissa Williams was one of three jumpers to clear 5’0″ but found herself in 2nd place based on misses. However, with her back against the wall she summoned some inner-strength and cleared a personal best and SCHOOL RECORD of 5’1″ to win the Lake Erie High Jump title! Seeing the success of Julissa, Senior Kerrengton Wade had a career day at the high jump as he increased his personal best by five inches and went from 3rd to 1st with a first attempt clearance at 6’4″ to win Boys the Conference title in the High Jump by four inches.

As has been the case all year, Freshman Mikiya Hermon secured her first Lake Erie League Title in the 200m (26.96) and was 3rd in the 100m (13.05). She also teamed with Julissa Williams, Aliyah Thomas and Nadarriea Higginbotham to finish 2nd in the 4 x 100m relay (51.36)and teamed with Higginbotham, Thomas and Krystile Carlton to finish 4th in the 4x200m relay (1:48.80) to earn a total of 19.5 points. Junior Kelvin Torres had a solid meet in the shot put by finishing 2nd in the Shot put (44’3″) in just his first year competing in the event! In the Girls throwing events, Senior Tatianna Ammons was 2nd (33-6.5″) and Alice Howard was 3rd (32′.05″) in the Shot Put; Ammons was also 3rd in the discus (94’10”) and Howard was 4th (84’10.50″)

Other individual scorers included: Junior Amya Brown was 5th in the 400m (1:04.23); Freshmen Olivia Triplett was 3rd (2:48.08) and Breiana Champman was 4th (2:59.24) in the 800m run; Chapman was also 5th in the 1600m run (7:00.40); Sophomore Elizmarie Guadalupe was 5th in the 3200m run (18:16.09); Freshman Jerzey Beard was 7th in the 100m Hurdles (22.04); Junior Sydney Patterson was 6th in the 300m hurdles (54.58); Freshman McKenzie Patterson was 7th in the High Jump (4’3″); and Freshman Mya Cheers was 3rd in the Long jump (14’11”).

In the relays, the team of Breiana Chapman, Olivia Triplett, Winter Harley and Jazmeir Prayer finished 4th in the 4 x 800m (12:17.76) and the team of Jazmin Smith, Sydney Patterson, Breiana Chapman and Amya Brown were 3rd in the 4 x 400m (4:28.80).

For the boys individually, Junior Kevin Brown was 7th in the 200m (24.06); David Santos 4th in the 800m (2:14.42); Senior Austin Velazquez was 3rd in the 1600m run (5:14.85); Senior Kerrengton Wade was 3rd in the Long Jump (19’3″); and Senior David Larson was 6th in the discus (118’10.5″).

In the relays, the Boys 4 x 100m was 5th (45.79); 4 x 200m was 6th (1:37.74); 4 x 800m was 4th (9:31.10)
